Hey - have only started playing F1 but I've found not a lot of information out there. Short answer is, because there's no specific class types at JV, it's all run what you brung (bad english) and as long as you're most comfortable with it.

I'm using 13.5T with 32.5 timing on the endbell and 0 timing on the ESC. 63 spur and 31 pinion. Not sure if this is right cos I've not managed to do a run for long enough to guage motor temps to see if it's under/over geared but seemed ok. This was comfortable speed for me but with a bit of head room for more speed if I want it.

90% of the setup is in the tyres! I tried Ride R1 and I couldn't get enough steering because I couldn't get the front tyres warm enough. Other chings using modified motors saying that rubber tyres just aren't going to hack it for F1, especially because I go in the evenings and the surface temperature is colder now. Just bought some GQ Racing front and rear foams! They looked really good on the track last week. They have them in Action Hobbies. I have VBC LightningF and you must get to F104 wheels for this car; the front wheels are fouled by the king pin on the front if you get the F103.

1 step at a time! Get the foams on and get the car on the track and have fun Then change things 1 by 1.

Also found out that for pan cars, diff should be set relatively loose! This could also be why I was having difficulty with understeer.

F1 is like a giant 1/12 and there are lots of setup tips on web for 1/12.  17..5 with turbo perhaps too much if new to F1, and wears sponge tyres quickly at JV.

Fei Hing, play with you, anything motor is fun laa....  .  Right now, probably prefer 21.5 (with or without Turbo) due to current race rules.

For the Ride R tyre, I have the same issue as you. Front tire aren't really grippy but the rear is okey. However the rear tyre are easily un-glued even I use the stock silver can 540 brushed motor. So may be I'd better stick with sponge tyres.

can u recommend a cost effective foam tyre? it seens the cheapest is 200hkd a set, and only last for 5 packs before i need to replace the rear tyre
