I have been running with the original dog bone for over a year with brushless motor without any problem. It looks fragile but actually it's OK.
For your car, I think the first thing you need to change is tire => switch to sponge tire which can give you more grip, and thus should be more stable.
Another option to consider is the suspension spring and damper cylinder. Original is too soft and the car is like a boat. Try ATM short spring and their adjustable damper cylinder.
